  I went to Dr. Gordon because I wear braces and I need a filling on a banded molar. Dr. Gordon was on my dental plan's list of providers. When I made the appointment I confirmed with the receptionist that the office was still participating with the plan. I arrived on-time for my appointment, still I had to wait for approximately 20mins. The eventually hygienist asked me to come into the back. She told me that she needed to take an x-ray. I explained that my problem was with one of the banded molars. I asked if the x-ray would be of any use as they cannot "see" through metal. The hygienist said that there would not be any problem. She took 4 x-rays of all of the banded molars (top, bottom, left, right). Then I waited in the dental chair for another 10 minutes before Dr. Gordon saw me. She looked at the tooth for less than a minute (no light, no tools). Then she said "I think you need a root canal. I can't see anything in the x-rays because of the bands. I'm going to give you a referral for an endodontist." --The endodontist's office was 2 doors down. As I leave after a useless appointment, the receptionist told me I owed $90 for the worthless x-rays and the visit. When I told her that according to my dental plan's price list (which I had) I owed $36, she told me "Dr. Gordon does not accept that plan." A week later I went to the neighborhood dentist (who is not provider on my dental plan) and he did a composite filling on the same tooth for $100.
